Increase in Missouri casino earnings by 4% in June compared to the previous year

Missouri's land-based casinos experienced a slight dip in revenue in June 2025, with a total of $161.4 million collected, a 5% increase from the same month last year, but a 9.1% decrease compared to May 2025.

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles topped the list as the highest revenue generator, bringing in $25.1 million. However, this figure was lower than the $26.3 million collected in May 2025.

River City Casino Hotel was the only other casino to bring in over $20 million, with $21.5 million collected in June 2025. Harrah's Kansas City saw a significant increase in revenue, with a 22% jump from $11.9 million in May to $15.3 million in June.

Century Casino & Hotel Cape Girardeau, on the other hand, saw a 1% decline in revenue compared to June 2024, with $14.9 million collected. Bally's Kansas City posted a 5% decline in revenues, while Argosy Casino & Hotel saw a 7% decline. No other casinos in Missouri generated over $20 million in revenue in June 2025.

Despite the slight decline in revenue for some casinos, the Missouri Gaming Commission's fiscal year 2025 saw an overall increase in revenue compared to fiscal year 2024. The casinos generated $1.91 billion in total, a 1% increase from the $1.89 billion generated in fiscal year 2024.

Looking ahead, Missouri is preparing for the launch of legal online sports betting, with a proposed date of December 1, 2025. Major operators such as Circa Sports, DraftKings, and FanDuel are vying for licenses to operate in the state. The Missouri Gaming Commission held hearings on August 13, 2025, and planned to select winners on August 15.

The legislative process has focused on a 10% tax rate on sports betting revenue and funding increases for problem gambling services. Bills have been consolidated into HB 2502, which includes promotional write-off allowances to support operators in the initial years.

As the online sports betting market in Missouri gears up for launch, the involvement of prominent sportsbook operators suggests significant activity in the near future.
