Lottery terminals are being installed in the branches of Lotto Hessen, the regional lottery organization.
In a bid to make playing the lottery more accessible and appealing to a younger audience, Lotto Hessen has partnered with Netto supermarkets to introduce self-service lottery terminals in select branches across Hesse, Germany.
From October 31, 2023, three Netto branches—Biebesheim, Flörsheim, and Frankfurt-Harheim—will be the first to host these innovative machines. By spring 2024, the network is expected to expand, with a total of 10 Netto stores across the state of Hesse offering the service.
The self-service terminals, equipped with touch screens, allow lottery players to choose their numbers or have a Quicktipp generated by a random number generator. They can also select different runtimes for their lottery tickets and pay without cash. The hardware for these terminals is provided by the Freiburg-based manufacturer Pyramid.
The age verification process is carried out at the terminal by presenting a personal ID. Once verified, players can participate in a variety of lotteries, including Lotto 6aus49 (the main German lottery), Eurojackpot (a transnational lottery), Glücksspirale (a national lottery game), and several state-specific instant lotteries and sports lotteries.
The environmental lottery Genau and the German Sports Lottery are also available at these terminals. Lotto Hesse is confident that the option of digitally filling out and printing lottery receipts will convince lottery players through the fast and simple process.
It's important to note that the search results do not provide specific information about which lotteries are available for purchase at Lotto terminals in Netto branches across Hesse. For precise, up-to-date details, it is recommended to check directly with the Netto branch in Hesse or with the official Hessische Lotterie or Lotto Hessen websites.
Netto branch staff have no influence on the terminals and are only responsible for replacing the paper roll for printing lottery receipts in the machines. Wins of up to 8,000 euros can be cashed out at the terminal, but larger wins can be collected at lottery outlets in Hesse.
The partnership between Lotto Hessen and Netto aims to bring the convenience of lottery play closer to home, allowing families to combine weekly grocery shopping with filling out a lottery ticket. However, the exact availability of these lottery games can vary by location and the agreements Lotto operators have with the retailer.
As of now, lottery machines are only available in the state of Hesse. It remains to be seen whether other federal states will join and enter into a partnership with Netto in the future.
