Norwegian progressive rock band Gazpacho unveil video for their latest single, titled 8-Ball, marking their first new music release in half a decade
Norwegian progressive band Gazpacho has shared a captivating new single titled "8-Ball," accompanied by a thought-provoking video created by Matt Peaceville. The video, which serves as a glimpse into the band's upcoming album, offers a glimpse into a world where a fictional group, The Cult of Infinity, worships chance itself.
The new album, also titled "Magic 8-Ball," is set to be the next release from Gazpacho. The album's title is derived from the children's 8-ball toy used for fortune telling or seeking advice, and it explores the theme of fate and the choices we make.
The Cult of Infinity believes in pure, sacred randomness, and to them, the Magic 8-Ball is considered divine due to its emptiness. The number 8 in "Magic 8-Ball" is symbolically represented as infinity.
The video for "8-Ball" features a found recruitment tape from The Cult of Infinity, painting a picture of someone who gambles everything, believing in the idea that fate will eventually reward them. Gazpacho has shared a cryptic statement accompanying the new single's video, suggesting this narrative.
The statement also implies that people find new things to believe in and create a new magical reality to replace the one they tore down.
"8-Ball" is the first new music from Gazpacho since 2020's "Fireworker." The album's tracklisting, which includes Starling, We Are Strangers, Sky King, Ceres, Gingerbread Men, 8-Ball, Immerwahr, and The Unrisen, promises a diverse and intriguing listening experience.
"Magic 8-Ball" will be released on various formats: sparkle vinyl, black vinyl, CD, and digitally. Pre-orders for the album are available now.
The director of the new music video for Gazpacho's song "8-Ball" is Sandro Miller. The video's creation marks another collaboration between Gazpacho and Miller, following their successful work together on previous projects.
The new album deals with the idea that fate can move without warning and choices can alter one's identity. The narrative in the video and the cryptic statement from Gazpacho seem to support this theme, leaving listeners eager for the album's release.
Stay tuned for more updates on Gazpacho's upcoming album "Magic 8-Ball."
